The Belfast Hills Operational Area

The operational boundary of the Belfast Hills Partnership encompasses approximately 4,400 hectares.
This area includes a number of key landmarks within the Greater Belfast area including Carnmoney Hill and Cave Hill to the north and Colin Glen, Divis Mountain and Black Mountain to the west.
Together these provide Belfast with a unique and stunning backdrop that dominates most of the city.
They offer a superb chance to take in magnificent views of Belfast and well beyond.

Travelling across the Belfast Hills, walkers are rewarded with spectacular views of Belfast Lough, the Castlereagh Hills, Ards Peninsula, Isle of Man and Scotland.
Slieve Gullion and the Mourne and Carlingford Mountains stand majestically on the one side, with the Sperrin Mountains, the Antrim Plateau and Lough Neagh mapping out the rest of Northern Ireland.
The famous Samson and Goliath shipyard cranes, the City Hospital tower block, The King's Hall and Parliament Buildings at Stormont are all easily visible.
The Belfast Hills are thought to be inspiration for Jonathan Swift's "Gulliver's Travels" as the hills are the embodiment of a sleeping giant safeguarding the city.
