Divis and Black Mountain - Get Healthy!

The highest and most spectacular points of Divis and the Black Mountain each provide a wide range of walking routes to suit all fitness levels. 

A tarmac road goes to the summit of Divis Mountain (the highest Mountain in the Belfast Hills).

Wheelchair users and families with buggies can make it to the top easily and enjoy breathtaking views across Belfast, the whole of Ulster and beyond to Scotland. 

There are toilets available on site, as well as a specialised mobility toilet for the severely disabled.

A number of stone benches are scattered throughout the site so you can have a well-earned rest.

Walking Routes

There are 4 suggested walks across the site:

Black Mountain: 4 mile round trip which takes approx 1 hour 45 minutes.

Grade- 1st section, from car park to BBC aerial, is 1.4 miles of easy access, 2nd section to mountain summit is 0.6 mile of leisurely walking.

Grade: Easy Access/Gentle/Leisurely 

Divis Mountain: A 4.2 mile return trip which takes about 2 hours.

Grade- 1st section, from car park to BBC aerial (1.4 miles), is easy access. 2nd section to mountain summit (0.8 mile) although easy access is steep and conventional wheel chair users will need good brakes and possble assistance in tackling the gradient.

Grade: Easy Access 

Tipperary Road: 4.5 miles return trip which takes around 3 hours.

Grade: Moderate 

Property Boundary: 7.5 miles return which takes about 6 hours.

Grade: Strenuous

How to get there

The address is 12 Divis Road, Hannahstown. Belfast BT17 0NG

Leave M1 at Junction 2. Take the A55 (outer ring), signed Falls. Go straight across the first two roundabouts. From dual carriageway, turn left onto Upper Springfield Road. Continue for about 2.5 miles, shortly after the national speed limit sign, turn right onto Divis Road (brown signpost) (Google streetview) . Car park is 0.5 miles on the left hand side
