Rock of ages headlines this Saturday
Leading Saturday’s nut walk that climbs to the mega basalt landmark, will be Partnership staff who will reveal the hidden parts of the city’s hills.
Hazelwood nature reserve is situated behind Belfast Zoo and is home to lots of native species of insect and animal including badgers and squirrels.
Unlike Justin Bieber, hazel trees have been in Ireland since time began. Hazel was traditionally the plant of knowledge, its nuts representing all wisdom enclosed within a protective shell.
Cave Hill has five caves with the first - above the Devil’s Punchbowl - the only one that is accessible to the public.
Jim Bradley who will be leading the walk said:
“With the glitz and glamour of the MTV awards this weekend, this walk is perfect for people who want to be getting out of town and into the quiet of the hills and nature.
“Hazelwood is an enchanting place – especially at this time of the year with the leaves turning – and then the gentle walk to Cave Hill should reveal great views of Belfast below.”
The walk takes place this Saturday November, 5 from 11am to 1pm.
Meet in Belfast Zoo car park.
