Divis and the Black Mountain
 



Divis and the Black Mountain rest in the heart of the Belfast Hills which provide the backdrop to the city’s skyline. The mountains comprise a mosaic of grassland, heathland bog and are home to a host of wildlife and archaeological remains.

Walking Routes:
There are 4 suggested walks across the site:
Black Mountain: 1 hour 45 minute return
Divis Mountain: 2 hour return
Tipperary Road: 3 hour return
Property Boundary: 6 hour return
  
Management:
The site is owned and managed by the National Trust with the aim of protecting this wonderful landscape and providing access for everyone.

Facilities:

Divis is the first National Trust property to install a Changing Places toilet - the only one on a mountain. Changing Places toilets provide a hoist, an adult height-adjustable changing bench and a non-slip floor designed for disabled people.

The Long Barn visitor resource centre provides a meeting place for local communities and groups who regularly access the mountain. Visitors can find out about the archaeology, history and unique habitats and wildlife of the area. Hot beverages available.  
  
How to get there:
Leave M1 at Junction 2. Take the A55 (outer ring), signed Falls. Go straight across the first two roundabouts. From dual carriageway, turn left onto Upper Springfield Road. Continue for about 2.5 miles, shortly after the national speed limit sign, turn right onto Divis Road (signposted). Car park is 0.5 miles on the left hand side.
 
Public transport:
Ulster bus no 106 between Belfast and Crumlin via Hannahstown, alight Upper Springfield Road by National Trust brown sign. Walk 800m up Divis Road and find the entrance to the site on your right hand side.
 
Private Taxis will charge about £9 to £10 to bring visitors to Divis and Black Mountain from Belfast City Centre.
 
West Belfast Taxi Association can arrange private tours.
