Goodie bags kindly donated by Tiso outdoor wear store were won at our Roman Round Cave Hill day recently. Despite the rain, many turned out dressed as Roman as well as Celts fighting in the Roman army to gain their freedom.

Save the Belfast Hills Big Walk
Divis to Dixon walkers are “voting with their feet” by taking part in the Save the Belfast Hills 10 mile challenge walk next month. The Divis to Dixon Link is a trail stretching through Divis to Glenside Community Woodland, upper and lower Colin Glens, Dunmurry Village, Jubilee Park, Fullerton Park and finishes in Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park.

The right to access the beautiful grounds of Cave Hill from the Antrim Road is something we take for granted these days. But back in the 19th century that basic privilege was seriously contested by an ambitious businessman. A book about the great Cave Hill 'Right of Way' case was launched recently by former Linen Hall librarian,John Gray. It chronicles the trial of a man who was taken to court for blocking a right of way to the Cave Hill.

Colin Glen Winter Walk Success
Almost 30 people turned out to enjoy an enchanting winter wonderland walk at Colin Glen Forest Park on Saturday (Jan 9) lead by the Belfast Hills Partnership. Manager of the Partnership, Dr Jim Bradley took the group of snow walkers up through the Colin site along the Colin River to part of the new Divis to Dixon link which joins upper Colin Glen to Glenside Community Woodland at Hannahstown in Lisburn.

A shock report entitled the Belfast Hills Mammal Survey has established that there is only a small population of Irish hare in the west of the city at Divis and Black Mountain.
